Secrets of my Sicilian Kitchen
March 17-23 | $5,500 single room, $5,000 shared room
Sicily is my new love. It is a combination of all the places I adore, Mexico,Italy and Greece. I’ve been going down for around 10 years.
An intense week of food and wine, centered around a Festival for San Giuseppe, it’s Father’s day
After our first night in Palermo, we head outside the city to tour Monreale and visit the catherdral, then back to the city for a tour of the histical center and lunch the market before leaving for the southern coast. We will explore the southwest coast of Sicily. Based in Menfi we will visit the San Giuseppe altars in Menfi, Gibellina and Poggioreale. We will also visit Porto Palo, Sciacca, the temples at Selinunte and the salt flats in Trapani.
Trip Notes
March 17th is Father’s Day, San Giuseppe. The area we will be touring is famous for their Altars. The women of the villages create bread sculptures to adorn the alters and fill the tables with food.
The Belice Valley is known for the Castelvetrano olives, heirloom wheat and the bread made from it. Wonderful Sheep’s milk cheeses and more.
We will dive in, meeting my favorite chefs, bakers and artisans.
