The Best Gift

December 24, 2020 by Divina Cucina

Here we are, we made it to the Christmas and then end of the year.

I keep saying, I don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But something changed. LIGHT.

Perhaps it is because we just passed the winter solstice and have a little more light now daily.

Perhaps because at the holidays, those extra little bits of sparkling lights bring joy.

Below is this seasons inspiration for me. Inside Palazzo Strozzi is a piece by Marinella Senatore. Made with the traditional festival lights of the South of Italy, her words bring hope.

This has been trying times for all. We are mostly staying home and are blessed to have a home in the countryside. I miss being able to jump in the car to visit friends across the valley or walking around Florence to see the festive lights downtown and meet up for a holiday toast or a meal.

During these times we have all become more resilient and perhaps realize what we can live without. Focus on what we have. Reach out and help those that need support.

We have been given the gift of time. Time to learn, teach, share. A personal Renaissance. I am hopeful that something good will come from this. Many friends have taken the time to create.

I jumped into online teaching. Everyday teaching myself a new skill to make it work. It has kept my mind busy and of course cooking is therapy for me and many others.

Thank you for joining me in my Tiny Tuscan Kitchen for classes. I look forward to sharing more even when we can go around again. I think having access to online classes is something that won’t leave us. Learning new things is like traveling. Inspirational.

Let’s hang in there. Wear our masks. Social distance. Don’t forget your friends. Reach out. I can just immagine the partying that will be going on when we get back to normal and how the little things we took for granted seem like gifts now!

Yesterday I had an espresso standing at the bar with a warm pastry baked on site. Counting my blessings.

If you want to cook with me, stop by my site divinacucina.com I have created some options as well as some discounts.
