Casa del Vino Enoteca

January 1, 2015 by Divina Cucina

One of my favorite stops while down around the Central Market is Gianni Migliorini’s Casa del Vino an enoteca. It is one of the best wine shops and wine bars in Florence, old style. A simple counter, very few places to sit, a tiny table and great wine by the glass and wonderful sandwiches.

As you walk into the Enoteca, you will see some of the pre-made little snacks, if you get there early, you can find his truffle sandwiches. This is my kind of a pick-me-up with a glass of Prosecco, the Italian sparkling wine.

If you want to buy some great wines at great prices, go in the afternoon and spend some time there. Give Gianni your price budget and he will advise you on best quality for price. Also he has a cantina with some real treasures if you want a rare bottle to enjoy.

I adore the custom panini on the crisp flat bread from Ivana’s bakery across the street. But if you look up, there are some pre-made sandwiches which are a favorite, filled with their marinated cherry tomatoes and burrata cheese ( or whatever they feel like using)

On the blackboard on the back wall are some of the specialities you can order.

One of our hidden treasures.

Originally from California; Tuscany has been my home since 1984. I found the city of Florence to hold all my passions, food, wine, art all in one place. When I am not in Tuscany, I am often found in Sicily, my other favorite place to be. Always searching for recipes to share and exploring for the guides I write to my favorite cities for food and wine.
