Piccoli Piacere– Small Pleasures { Merenda}

May 18, 2014 by Divina Cucina

There are little things in life that make me happy, timing is one of them.

As we were driving into Florence yesterday to attend a Dante reading by 1,200 people in Piazza Santo Spirito, we stopped at our favorite “truckstop” pastry shop. You never know where you will find perfection!

It was 4:30pm— and it Italy that means merenda, snack time. At great pastry shops, that means they do a special baking and frying to serve up fresh treats, savory and sweet.

I took this photograph of the hot cream filled bomboloni, donut, which my husband had, but I went for the savory puff pastry filled with ham and cheese.

Carpe Diem!

    Carpe the bomboloni, and Frybabes unite! Oh my, but that is my idea of a fine afternoon snack!

    Oh my goodness those look fantastic. I’d love to taste that luscious looking cream with the sweet, delicate donut. Pure heaven I’m sure. I love italy – I can wait to return someday.
