If you can’t say anything nice….

July 30, 2006 by Divina Cucina

Well, let’s just say July wasn’t very good!

Most people only want to hear about the good stuff, how fabulous it is to live in Italy.
Food , wine, great weather, etc.

Well sometimes reality strikes and it isn’t pretty!

I started off by trying to cut back the arugula in my garden July 3rd, before I had coffee.
I heard my back pop and that was it!

Pain.. Pain.. Pain…
Ice, pain pills, bed.

I had been planning to take July off to do a research and development trip to Puglia for a class I want to do there. We were supposed to take off on the 9th.. no way!

So finally got to were I could sit and we decided to go for it, leaving on the 14th.

I hurt myself again in Puglia and the trip came to a close.

Emergency room for an x-ray, shots and rest!

I just finished the series of shots and tomorrow need to see if any doctors are left in my village that can put my back back together so I can walk!

Wish me luck!

I will then catch up with a couple of notes from my trip…. although I wasn’t at my best!

The killer heatwave was also here and is finally breaking some.
So we were at least lucky to have been near the sea with a much lower temperature than Florence which also has a high humidty rate and no A/C!

Better the heatwave broke than your back! Although it sounds painful, at least we’re in the land of good drugs. Get well soon!!

Take care of yourself, I have friends who are hoping to come see you for a class in October! I recently pulled out your cookbook and the our pictures from our class and showed them around the shop. You should get some inquiries from that!

    Warmest regards!

    Hope you feel better soon!

Massive amounts of gelato do wonders for the blues.

Wishing you luck, sending you healing thoughts (sorry, no cool ones available–we’re in the middle of an awful heat wave here, too), and thanking you for the stunning photo!

    Thanks Cigale.

am feeling better.. finally sleeping more than 3 hours a night.

The dr’s appointment is today at 5pm.
The back clinic in Certaldo closed for the summer and the doctor only comes to a nearby village on Friday’s!

I could have gone down to FLorence, but it is a hour away and haven’t felt like trying.

Hope this works quickly.. I miss cooking!

Take care and good wishes for a speedy recovery. Back injuries seem so unpredictable and not always easy to diagnose and recover. We’ll all be checking on you!
