Bye Bye Julia

August 13, 2004 by Divina Cucina

I think Julia Childs taught us all to cook and to have a sense of humor while we cook!

Thank you Julia.
I am so glad she left us with lovely volumes of recipe and great video from her tv show. She will live on in our kitchens.

My favorite memory of Julia is her being escorted to a dance at an IACP convention by Graham Kerr, the Gallopping Gourmet.. he wore his kilt… and a white t-shirt with the sleeve rolled up around a pack of cigarettes and had a tattoo on his arm, JC+ GK

what a couple!

She stayed at the hotel I worked in in San Francisco, the Stanford Court Hotel, when Jim Nassikas had started a great chef’s cooking program at the hotel. It was wonderful to see her and her lovely husband Paul. Her sister lived nearby and would also come in, she was as tall as Julia too.

Judy Witts Francini

Originally from California; Tuscany has been my home since 1984. I found the city of Florence to hold all my passions, food, wine, art all in one place. When I am not in Tuscany, I am often found in Sicily, my other favorite place to be. Always searching for recipes to share and exploring for the guides I write to my favorite cities for food and wine.
